Prior to “reading” it (I say “reading” but I actually mean “listening” since it was on audiobook), I wasn’t sure what to make of Sheryl Sandberg’s “Lean In.”
So many of the reviews I had read beforehand (and here I mean “read” not “listened”) seemed to say that Sandberg is someone who believes that all women should “lean in,” all the time. That all women should want to be in the corner office, and should aim for it without apology, family life be damned!
As someone who hasn’t always leaned in to her career, I didn’t agree with this view. Continue reading
Our grocery store often has sausage on sale, and since it’s a meat that all of my family members will eat, it’s a tempting choice a couple of times each month. Usually I just lapse into “pasta, sausage and sauce” mode, so it’s nice when I can do something a little different with it.
Our CSA recently gave us some fennel in our weekly box, which gave me a great idea for a 20-minute meal. Continue reading
By the time I pick up the kids from daycare and get home from work, we’re pushing 6:00. With our 2-year-old going to bed around 7:00 or 7:30, that doesn’t leave much time for putting together dinner. (At least one that’s not bought at a drive-thru window.)
That’s why I’m such a big fan of the 20-minute meal. Here’s one that my whole family cheers for whenever I make it. Continue reading
I started this blog a few years ago just as a fun project so I could share some of my thoughts about motherhood. But after a few posts here and there, the blog stagnated. It wasn’t until recently that I figured out what I really wanted this blog to be about.
You see, about six months ago, I went back to an office job after spending four years working at home. And the new structure in my life — work hours, rushing to daycare before it closes at 6:00 p.m., struggling to get dinner on the table during work nights, realizing that I can’t be at every school function — made me realize that there are many issues that working moms face that I was away from for several years, but now had to face again.
So this blog — while I hope it will have a broad appeal — is meant to be written for the working mom. I’ll provide recipes and tips for easy mealtimes, discussion of daycare/school issues, articles of interest that I find on issues that touch working moms, and much more.
I hope you enjoy!
